How to Evaluate Interactive Flat Panel Samples Before Bulk Orders (2026)
You ask for a sample, and a few days later it shows up—boxed in a wooden crate, straight from the factory.
Most people at this point just want to see if it “works.” Turn it on, test the touch, swipe a few screens, maybe run a video. If nothing looks wrong, the thinking is usually: it’s fine, let’s move forward.
That’s completely normal. When you’re busy and trying to move a project forward, it’s easy to treat the sample as a quick check and move on.
But this is also the stage where small issues get missed—things that don’t show up in a 10-minute test, but matter a lot once you’ve installed dozens of units.

Start With What You Cannot Fix Later
Open the crate carefully, but do not throw it away. You need the packaging for two reasons: to check whether it protected the panel during shipping, and to confirm whether the bulk order will be packed the same way. If the sample arrived with a corner dented because the foam was too thin, the bulk order will arrive the same way — just multiplied by your order quantity.
Check the panel physically before you plug anything in. Run your hand along the bezel — is it flush, or are there gaps? Look at the corners — is the glass seated evenly, or is one corner raised? Inspect the anti-glare coating — hold the panel under overhead lights at an angle. A good coating diffuses the reflection into a soft bloom. A cheap coating turns the screen into a mirror. If the coating is uneven or missing in spots, the problem will be on every panel in your order.
These are the things you cannot fix with a software update or a settings adjustment. Physical build quality at sample stage is physical build quality at production stage. If it is not right now, it will not be right later.
Test the Touch System Like You Actually Use It
Turning the panel on and drawing a line with one finger is a power-on test, not a touch system test.
The way to evaluate interactive flat panel samples is to simulate real use. Get two people. Have both write on the board at the same time. Have a third person rest a palm on the screen while pointing at something. Switch between a stylus and a finger mid-stroke. Try to palm-erase — wipe the screen with the side of your hand like a real whiteboard. On a good touch system, the board tracks only intentional inputs. On a bad one, palm touches register as stray lines, palm erasing does not work, and simultaneous writing lags or skips.
Test the edges. Touch systems degrade at the corners and near the bezel. Draw a line around the entire perimeter of the screen, as close to the edge as you can. If the line breaks or jumps, the touch sensor is not calibrated to the full surface. That is not a sample defect. That is a design defect.
Run the Software Through a Real Workflow
Do not just open the whiteboard app and close it. Run the panel through an actual meeting or lesson.
Connect a laptop wirelessly. Cast a presentation. Open a spreadsheet with small-font numbers and zoom in. Does the text stay sharp, or does wireless compression turn it muddy? Join a video call using the built-in camera and microphone. Walk around the room while talking — does the speaker tracking follow you, or does it lag? Ask the person on the other end how you sound. If the microphone picks up the air conditioner more than your voice, that is not getting fixed in production.
Open the built-in Android apps you plan to use — the web browser, the file manager, the screen sharing receiver. Are they the current versions, or are they outdated? An interactive flat panel with an Android version from three years ago will struggle with apps that update every month.
These are the things that turn a panel from a wall decoration into a tool people actually use. A sample that passes the spec sheet but fails a real workflow is a sample that told you everything you needed to know.
Document Everything
Take photos of the packaging, the panel, the connections, the on-screen menus. Note the firmware version, the Android build number, the EShare or casting software version. If anything goes wrong with the bulk order, you want to be able to say "the sample you sent us in June had firmware version X and build quality Y — the panels we received do not match."
